1. So Live Maps being expensive is fair enough, and without character locations dynamically serving it actually seems kind of pointless. But it was really helpful for finding things like Villages, specific biomes, which parts of Twilight have already been Trophy-farmed, etc.

Is there any chance of ever getting an occasionally re-generated but otherwise statically-served set of "not live" maps instead on a "best effort" basis? Fantasizing for a moment the ideal case would be something like a "mostly zoomed out" version which links to X x Y medium-high zoomed-in versions, but even the occasional thread post from an admin with an updated zip attachment of the latest Live Map scraping would be more than enough to do most of the things the Live Map presumably got used for (you know, other than PvP).

  2. i like the sound of this, would be great for finding anything useful

  3. Hell, I'd just like to see how the server grows over the weeks/months
If its a matter of bandwidth aren't there more efficient methods of posting an image. jpg, some image hoster, ect

  4. In theory dynmap could be set to a once a day map generation. Depending on the add-ins it can detect residence zones also.
It would need to be looked at as the whether it was the constant updates that were the cause of the bandwidth increase or if it was the plugin use itself, e.i people checking the static map via the website.
And yes there are hosting services to post images and such but we'd still need some way of generating a map image.

  5. edit: Sorry, I re-read what you wrote and think you basically said the same thing. Apologies for the noise - yes the main problem is getting a map gen of any kind if the plugin itself was a problem even without people using it.
